When should my student begin working with SIC?
Every family’s timeline is different, but we recommend starting earlier than most people expect. Freshmen and sophomores benefit from early academic planning, activity exploration, and building confidence before the process becomes more demanding. Juniors gain the most from structured support with testing, college list development, and essays. Seniors can still receive valuable guidance with applications, interview preparation, and financial aid decisions. No matter where your student is, we meet them exactly where they are and help them move forward with clarity and purpose.
How do the hours in each package work?
Each package includes a set number of support hours that can be used across meetings, research time, planning, and behind-the-scenes work. Your sessions are customized to your student’s needs, and we track hours transparently so you always know how much time remains. Some sessions may be longer when we’re diving into essays or creating a college list, while others may be shorter check-ins as deadlines approach. Our goal is to use your hours strategically to ensure your student receives the support they need at the right moments.
What’s the difference between the comprehensive packages and the hourly modules?
Comprehensive packages provide a full, structured pathway through the entire admissions process. They include multiple modules bundled together, regular check-ins, personalized strategy, and ongoing accountability.
Modules are designed for families who want support in specific areas only. You can select individual topics such as course planning, self-discovery, or interview preparation without committing to a full package. Both options are highly personalized, but comprehensive packages offer the greatest depth, continuity, and long-term support. Note - Modules are only available in 5hr. increments.
How involved are parents throughout the process?
We believe the most successful outcomes occur when students take ownership of their journey while parents stay informed and supported. Parents receive updates as needed and are encouraged to attend certain meetings, especially those involving financial planning, college strategy, or major decisions. At the same time, we ensure students have the space to discover their strengths, build independence, and lead their own process. Our approach strengthens communication, reduces stress, and keeps everyone aligned.
What makes SIC different from other college consulting services?
At SIC, we go deeper than checklists, deadlines, and application formatting. Our strength lies in helping students uncover who they are, what matters to them, and how to express that clearly and authentically. We blend strategic insight with mentorship, ensuring every student feels understood, guided, and empowered. With a background in strategic communications, we help students craft compelling narratives while also focusing on academic planning, activity development, and financial decisions. Our work is personal, purposeful, and built around the belief that a student’s college journey should prepare them not only for admission, but for long-term success and fulfillment.
